The Reluctant Caterpillar needs you--please vote!

My friend Ella's children's book will get published, and Lafayette's bilingual school, Pioneer Elementary, will get a ton of free books, if she wins this contest!  Please read her story, The Reluctant Caterpillar, and vote for it.

(Do read the other finalists, too--who can resist free, illustrated children's books, especially if you're raising your children with English in a non-anglophone country--but don't you think Ella's book is the best one?!)

The contest ends February 21.

Oh, and Happy Valentine's Day, dear friends!

  1. So, I'm innocently checking through my blog roll and I notice Sarah has a new post. And then I think, hey "The Reluctant Caterpillar" sounds familiar. And then I think -- wait a second, that's MY book! (Yeah, not the sharpest tool in the shed...) Thanks for the love, Sarah, and all your support. Whatever happens, it's awesome to know I have a friend like you. :)

    1. "The Sharpest Tool in the Shed"--hey, that would make a good name for a band--or for a children's book?

My pleasure. :) It's awesome to have a friend who's an author!

    2. Interesting how the same title would work for a band or children's book. Hmm... ;)

(By the way, Sarah, you are aware that you're an author, too, right?)

    3. Yeah, but I don't get paid for what I write!

I've toyed with the idea of self-publishing a version of our Reading Buddies handbook, along with guidelines and suggestions for setting up a similar program from scratch...

  2. Sarah,

As for getting paid, here's Karma Wilson's take on it: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=240504559367335&set=a.159381410812984.39913.112921152125677&type=1&theater

I've often thought an extention of the reading buddies guide would be a useful resource. Before you self-pub, you might want to check out these folks instead: http://www.highsmith.com/upstartbooks/pages/manuscript-submission

Either way, if you want to float ideas back and forth, just email me.

    1. KW's next book: "Bear Writes On"?

Oh my goodness, Highsmith sounds like a perfect match!!! Thank you for sharing the link to their manuscript guidelines! Have you ever submitted anything to them?
