I know I've raved recently about two-year-old Suzanne, but her mom Reb reports here and here that Suzanne's using lots and lots of words now, even making short sentences in French, in English, and in both languages ("manger outside," "pas like it")! For months, Reb had despaired about her daughter's reluctance to respond to or speak in English (she lives in France with a Frenchman), so reading that Suzanne's so comfortable in both is reassuring news.
Suzanne's (or I should say, Reb's and her husband's) success encourages all us parents of would-be bilingual kids to start young, stay consistent, and keep trying.
