bilingual aliens abduct celebrities for sex!

May 23 will mark the fourth anniversary of Bringing up Baby Bilingual. I would love to see my stats counter (at the bottom of the page) hit 50,000 by that day! It just feels like a strong, solid number for a birthday. This morning, I'm at 48,241 hits, and the blog gets an average of 70 or so a day. At this rate, I'll be ~250 short on my blogiversary.

In that case, I'd better start writing about politics, celebrities, alien abductions, and/or Viagra so that I'll grab more Googlers than usual! (Like the week or so after asking about for vocabulary advice for potty training Griffin in French--lots of people curious about French skivvies showed up to this blog. And were mightily disappointed.)

So, um, have you heard that the stars of Lost, on a press junket to Vegas, mysteriously disappeared somewhere in Nevada after sightings of strange bright lights in the sky, and then their spaceship was stopped in Arizona for not having proper papers proving their citizenship, but they bribed the cops to let them go by offering them a suitcase full of male performance enhancement drugs?

Oh, but this not-yet-confirmed, late-breaking news bulletin has nothing, absolutely nothing, to do with bilingual families. I can't post something random like that just to inflate my readership numbers, especially with people who will show up once and never return. That's unethical! Unless....

This just in! Now, after spending time with their alien abductors, the actors are committed to teaching their children to speak Martian!

  1. Sarah, Sarah, Sarah. No need to stoop so low. This blog is about learning and thinking in different languages. Your commitment to the base-10 counting system is so... pedestrian... Reach out to new ways of thinking! Ask your engineer hubby what your visitor count is in base-9. Or, if you want to know how much of a superstar you are, try the binary system.

  2. No, what's funny is that this post received more comments in eight hours than most of my serious posts about language teaching learning get in eight days! (Or ever!)

Note to self: include aliens in posts more often.

  4. Congrats to the birthday. You must contribute a lot of work for this blog within 4 years.

I notice you got a lot of comments after each blog. My blog got 70 hits each day too, but very few people left a comment. Don't know why?? Can you share some of your deadly secrets to get visitors leave comments on your blog? Thanks in advance!!!

  6. @Eve and Best--Thanks!

@Best--Sorry, I don't know what to say, other than that I know how it can feel disheartening not to have people comment on one's blog. What I would like to find time to do more of is read all the blogs in my blogroll regularly and contribute to their conversations--I have found that leaving comments is a great way to draw people back to my own blog. Good luck!
