Er, hi. I mean, bonjour! Yeah, that's it. Bonjour.

What, another apologetic post about not posting?

Er, yes.

All is well.

Sorry for not writing, not reading, not answering your emails, not doing my column for MLL, not posting pictures of our growing Griffin.

Griffin's vocabulary at fourteen months:
Mama
Dada
Uh-oh
Hi
No
Yeah
Yay (means "yes"--perhaps a combination of English "yes" and French "oui"?)
Doh (means "open the door," "open the gate to let me climb the stairs," or "let's go outside and play")
Arf

He also does a monkey call and puts his hands on his hips in imitation of a monkey (he can't quite manage to scratch his armpits yet).

Carl's vocabulary:
In English: It has absolutely exploded! He is amazingly articulate.
In French: He rarely speaks in French, but still understands a lot of what I say. And from time to time, he announces, "Tatie speaks French. I speak French a little. Why do I speak French? Why does Tatie speak French?"

Sarah's vocabulary:
I make mistakes ALL THE TIME in French now.
(Of corse, I also make mistaks in Englesh too, I is still sleep-deprived. Durn baby.)

More later....

  1. Finally a new post... I am happy to see that you are still following the progress... I am planning to raise my kid 3 lingual (Spanish - English and Indonesian). and then is really important for me to see your advances. I am still reading your last post from long time ago. As you see my english is not native but we are planning to move to an english speaking country. Thank you for posting.

  2. I was just thinking about you and wondering how you were getting along! Love the fact that he does a monkey call -- hilarious.

  3. Glad to see you are back! I worried for a while that you decided to drop your blog. My son has started speaking, and most of his words are in English. Sometimes, I have to translate for others, but I see all moms doing the same for their Czech speaking kids:-) He understands both languages and distinguishes between Czech and English speakers. When he's with grandma, he calls his daddy "tata," and when he's with me, he always refers to daddy as "daddy." Looking forward to reading more of your stories!

  4. ohmygoodness... how big Carl and Griffin are! Dani, too. She is finally getting more interested in Spanish now because of Dora (talk about mixed blessings).
I miss you! I miss the library! I'm moving to Tucson in the summer.

  5. Hi Sarah...I've been away from blogging for some time too, so I can totally relate to how quickly 5 or 6 months can go by. But I'm glad to see you're back. Your children are so precious...enjoy!
