nifty resource for francophile kids
If your kids are learning French, check out the children's pages of the French Embassy site. It's not as interactive as the BBC kids' language-learning site I mentioned earlier, but it covers many topics briefly (such as the Lascaux caves and the French school system). It includes a few games (like answering trivia questions to launch the Ariane rocket) and would probably appeal to upper-elementary kids who already know a little bit about France--or enough to be interested in finding out more! (I might even suggest it to my college students if I didn't think they'd feel patronized.)

Dang! The Embassy has apparently removed their page for kids.
